Woombye grew up as a railway and fruit town: first Middle Camp, then Cobb's Camp, renamed Woombye in the 1880s, with the North Coast line opening through the district in 1891. What that history left behind is a suburb of mid-century timber homes on stumps, sitting a few streets away from newer brick-and-tile on subdivided land.
Since 2006 the population has climbed from 2,094 to 3,944, and most of that arrival is people coming inland from the coastal strip for a bigger block. They discover something on moving day that the listing photographs never show: the furniture that fitted a flat coastal apartment now has to go up an external stair flight.

Why a local crew is priced differently
Woombye sits 3.9 km south of Nambour and a short run north of Palmwoods, which is where the Journeyman Movers depot is. That corridor is the daily route, not an unfamiliar detour, and it matters commercially: the rate card charges full travel from and to the Palmwoods depot, so a Woombye job carries about as short a travel leg as anything outside Palmwoods itself.
It matters practically as well. Woombye loads regularly turn out bigger than the description, for a reason covered below. When that happens, a depot fifteen minutes away makes a second run the same afternoon a realistic option rather than a second booking. The suburb is not one housing type, and it should not be quoted as one. The older streets are tighter, steeper and higher off the ground. My house is high-set with a steep driveway. Is that a problem?
It is the standard Woombye job, so no, but it does change the plan and it should change the quote. We bring extra trolleys and a longer ramp, and we would rather put another crew member on at $55 per hour than have one person carrying a fridge up a flight of stairs. If the driveway is too steep, or the carport awning too low for the truck, we park on firm ground and shuttle. Tell us the slope and the number of flights when you call and the carry time goes into the estimate from the start.
Does the stuff under the house count?
Yes, and it is the single biggest reason a Woombye move runs over.
